Ben Stevens Obituary – Cause of Death: Former Alaska Senate president, Ben Stevens dies while hiking near Seward.

Ben Stevens, a former Alaska Senate president and a son of the late U.S. Senator Ted Stevens, died unexpectedly at the age of 63 on Thursday evening.

According to Alaska State Troopers, Stevens was hiking on the Lost Lake Trail outside Seward on Thursday evening and experienced a medical emergency, with CPR in progress around 6 p.m.

A LifeMed helicopter reached the scene about 40 minutes later and took his body to Anchorage following his death.

Stevens served as the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Alaska, Mike Dunleavy. He worked as vice president of external affairs and transportation at ConocoPhillips Alaska.

Stevens joined the company in early 2021 after working as chief of staff to Republican Gov. Mike Dunleavy.
