“True Musicians pour their lives into others. They make friends from many diverse backgrounds and walks of life. They’re often underpaid and undervalued, or, conversely, nearly venerated unfairly so. Either way, because of the many diverse lives they touch, the ripple effect of shock can cross geographic, cultural, economic, social, and political borders. John McGale, your loss will be felt, far and wide, further than Canada, and in many hearts,” a tribute post shared via Facebook read.
“Montreal guitar legend/performer great player and great guy who always had funny and amazing stories. John was kind enough to invite me to guest on his Extreme Guitars album, which was so fun. He had me soloing on a few tracks,” another post read.
