An adult male who was killed in a car-pedestrian collision in Bath Township, Summit County on Saturday, December 17, 2022, was identified as 44-year-old Thomas J. Headrick of Tallmadge, Ohio.
According to the Akron Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the pedestrian crash occurred on Interstate 77 near Milepost 140, located in Bath Township, Summit County.
Preliminary investigations revealed a 2018 Kia Optima operated by 34-year-old David T. Gibbons of Parma, Ohio, was traveling southbound on Interstate 77, when a pedestrian was crossing Interstate 77 due to another crash that had occurred prior. As the pedestrian crossed the Interstate he was struck, in the left lane of travel.
Headrick was pronounced deceased by the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office. Gibbons did not sustain any injuries relating to this incident.
Investigations are ongoing.
