According to television footage, the incident took place on a route where riders were traveling in both directions as part of the race’s cycling course’s loop. Camera operators were riding down the middle of the road on motorbikes.
The 70-year-old motorcyclist passed away at the site, a 26-year-old triathlete was hospitalized with serious injuries, and a 50-year-old cameraman was treated for shock, according to police. Police were looking into what caused the collision.
