Around 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, Portage Public Safety responded to a tragic motorcycle collision near the intersection of Sprinkle Road and East Kilgore Road.
According to investigators, a FedEx truck was one of the accident’s involved cars. The motorcycle’s 36-year-old driver from Vicksburg was declared dead at the spot, according to authorities.
According to the investigation, the Vicksburg man was traveling south on Sprinkle Road on his motorbike when he slowed down due to the uneven terrain in a work zone.
The motorcycle was struck from behind by a FedEx vehicle that was traveling south behind it, according to authorities. Due to investigative needs, protective barriers were put in place.
According to the Kalamazoo County Central Dispatch Authority, the collision caused all southbound lanes of Sprinkle Road to be closed.
The accident is still being looked into.
