Kennon Barton Obituary News – Car Accident: Ocean Springs teacher dies in Wednesday morning crash in Jackson County.
Early on Wednesday morning, a two-vehicle collision on I-10 in Jackson County claimed the life of an Ocean Springs teacher.
According to MHP, at around 12:50 in the morning, Ocean Springs resident Kennon Barton, 41, was driving westbound on I-10 when he was struck by a semi-truck being operated by David Poppe, 58, of Homosassa, Florida.
At Ocean Springs High School, Barton was an English teacher. He additionally spoke at Jackson County’s MGCCC.
At the site, Barton’s death was confirmed.
“Ocean Springs School District is saddened to learn of the passing of beloved OSHS teacher, Mr. Kennon Barton,” Ocean Springs School District said in a statement.
“Words do not do justice to what Mr. Barton meant to his coworkers and our students. He was truly kind and genuinely cared for every individual that walked our halls. We want to pass along our condolences to the Barton family and all of the many staff members and students that Mr. Barton made such a significant impact on. We will all miss Mr. Barton more than words can express. He was not just our co-worker but our good friend as well.”
