Austin McEwen Death: 6 workers confirmed dead after tornado rocks Amazon warehouse as death toll continue to rise.
After the tragic storm in Edwardsville, IL on Friday, Police have confirmed six people dead, while another person was airlifted to the hospital via a news conference on Saturday evening.
Also via a statement on Saturday Amazon expressed their grief in the loss of staffs and also thanking first responders for their brave efforts; “We’re deeply saddened by the news that members of our Amazon family passed away as a result of the storm in Edwardsville, IL,” the statement read.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their loved ones, and everyone impacted by the tornado. We also want to thank all the first responders for their ongoing efforts on scene. We’re continuing to provide support to our employees and partners in the area.”
Family members and friends have identified one of the deceased victims in this tragedy as Austin McEwen who worked in the Amazon distribution facility rocked by the deadly tornado.
According to a GoFundMe page created to ‘support for Austin’s Family after deadly tornado’, he is remembered as a beautiful soul, loved by all who met him.
“Austin had a wonderful smile and gave big, warm hugs. He was a talented baseball and hockey player. He loved the outdoors and his hunting dogs.” He was a graduate of Vatterott College with a degree in mechanics.
