Wife of the late Don Oliver, Maureen Oliver passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, December 9, 2021.
Donald Oliver OBE was a weightlifter and fitness centre founder. He represented New Zealand at three Olympic Games, and won two Commonwealth medals, including gold in 1966 in Kingston.
On 18 March 1967, Maureen and Don got married and the couple had three children. In 1975, they opened their first gym, the Don Oliver Health Centre, and went on to own six gyms in Auckland. Don also started his own brand of fitness equipment.
He was a personal trainer to several All Blacks, including Michael Jones, Eroni Clarke, Va’aiga Tuigamalaand Craig Dowd.
