Sean Riley Death: Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy, Sean Riley killed while responding to an assist call near the Illinois-Indiana border early on Wednesday.
Officer Sean Riley was was found dead by another officer on Interstate 64 on Wednesday morning. Officer Riley had earlier responded to a motorist assist call at approximately 5 a.m. before he was later found dead.
His squad car was missing before it was later found abandoned on I-64, police said.
The officers body has been taken to Evansville to the Tri County Morgue for an autopsy.
“I was saddened to learn of the passing of Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy Sean Riley who was killed in the line of duty this morning,” State Representative, Dave Severin wrote. “Penny and I offer our most sincere condolences to Deputy Riley’s family and loved ones and are grateful to all the men and women of our law enforcement community for their service and sacrifice.”
