UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Dies at Age 73: Cause of Death

It has been announced by state media firm this Friday afternoon that UAE President is dead.

According to reports UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan died on Friday at the age of 73.

The state media WAM said “The Ministry of Presidential Affairs mourn the people of the UAE, the Arab and Islamic nations, and the whole world. The leader of the nation and the patron of its march, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, passed away to the Lord’s side today, Friday, May 13.”

However flags have been launched and flown at half staff for forty days by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs of official mourning. All the ministry sectors including official organisations are closed for three days.

The Ministry of Presidential Affairs expressed his condolences to the UAE, Arab and Islamic worldwide on the passing of the nation’s chief, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in an announcement issued by Owam.

In December 2009, one of the largest investment funds in the world, managing hundreds of billions of dollars in assets was led by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In the state media WAM tweet “The Ministry of Presidential Affairs announces an official mourning and flags to be flown at half-mast for the late His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, for a period of 40 days, starting today, and suspending work in ministries, departments, federal and local institutions, and the private sector for 3 days, starting today (Friday).”

In 2014, Sheikk Khalifa has had stroke and underwent surgery, his post has been ceremonial since then. But Abu Dhabi’s crown prince Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed, Sheikk’s brother has been playing the role of the activities of the state.

Sheikk was born in 1948 and was appointed the the president of UAE in 2004.
