Vancouver Island Highway: ‘There was no preparation for a well predicted snowfall’.

Following a well predicted snowfall, road users believe there were no proper preparations made to deal with the forseen weather condition as it makes roads more risky and tedious to travel on.

Environment Canada had earlier issued a more critical weather warnings for Vancouver Island, including an arctic outflow warning.

It is strongly advised to stay off Malahat highway at the moment following the weather condition, a Facebook user shared.

“Strongly advise you stay off the Malahat right now unless it’s essential travel. It’s a bit of a skating rink, and vehicles are sliding into the barricades like pin balls.”

“Another accident in SB lanes just south of S.Shawnigan Lake intersection. Sounds like vehicle is mangled. Snow tires are great but no match for a skating rink with hills and turns. If you need to drive, be uber cautious out there.”
