Bob Neumeier Death – Obituary: Former Boston sports reporter and NBC horse racing expert, Bob Neumeier has passed away. Reports says that Bob died on Saturday October 23, 2021. However, cause of death was reportedly to be Stroke.

Bob Neumeier was a top sportscaster who bagged many awards in his career. Bob won the Television Achievement Award for Outstanding Coverage of Thoroughbred Racing in 1981 and also won the New England Emmy Award for Best Sports Coverage in 1982 and 1983.

Bob’s death was announced across social today, in a statement received from Mark M. Farinella, he wrote, “Saddened to hear of the passing of Bob Neumeier, the former Ch. 4 sports reporter, NBC horse racing expert and WEEI host. Bob was a true pro in all of his callings and a member of a great team of sports reporters at WBZ. Some may not be aware that he had a severe stroke in 2014, but still made it back to the airwaves, which served later as an inspiration when I had my less-severe stroke near the end of that same year. Godspeed, Bob.”

Bob suffered a stroke and was hospitalized on October 29, 2014. Although the actual age of Bob is not known, it is estimated to be between 70 and 75. He is survived by his wife and children.

Neumeier, who had been in hospice for eight weeks, died of congestive heart failure and heart disease, his wife Michele told the Globe.

Neumeier, a 1972 graduate of Syracuse University, suffered a stroke in October 2014, requiring 5½ hours of surgery, but returned to work at Comcast SportsNet New England (now NBC Sports Boston) the following May.

Joe Haggerty, long-time friend of Bob also wrote on Facebook, he says, “Really sad to hear about the passing of my friend and former colleague Bob Neumeier at 70 years old. “Neumy” was truly a larger-than-life figure and a joy to be around. I really knew I’d made it the 1st time I shared space w/legends like him & Bob Lobel. RIP. You’ll be missed”

From 1981-2000, during the heyday of local news, Neumeier was a reporter and anchor at Ch. 4, where his deft writing ability made him a perfect complement to irreverent weekday sports anchor Bob Lobel.

Later, he hosted middays at WEEI from 2002-05. He joined CSSNE in 2010. He also called the Bruins on WBZ (1030) from 1996-99, and was best known to a national audience as a trusted expert on NBC’s horse racing coverage.
