Santino Da Silva Death (South Africa) – It is with shock, deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that we share the passing of Santino da Silva, one of our Grade 10 students. Santino lost his life in a tragic incident that occurred on Friday. His father, Mr Jose da Silva, was critically injured in the same incident and passed away on Saturday. Our hearts go out to the Da Silva family at this incredibly difficult time and we ask you to hold them in your thoughts and prayers.
Santino joined Dainfern College in Grade 0 and embraced all aspects of College life. His years in High School were marked by his contagious energy and the ease with which he made friends and interacted with both teachers and his peers. Admired for his honesty and respectful nature, Santino had a natural warmth and zest for life and was a genuine friend to all.
Santino greatly enjoyed the sports programme and was a committed participant in Hockey, Soccer and Tennis throughout High School. He was a conscientious student who worked hard to achieve a balance between his academics, sport and social life. A proud and spirited supporter of Griffin House, he was always the first to shout out with enthusiasm and enjoyment at House events. He was a valued and popular member of his Griffin tutor family who willingly volunteered to participate in tutor games and activities.
Santino will forever be remembered for the positive way in which he approached life, always with a smile on his face and a community of friends around him. He was a fine young man and a true gentleman, whose laughter and passion for life will always be remembered.
“You can remember him and only that he is gone,
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.” – David Harkins
