Calvin Richard Lester Jr. is identified as the victim killed outside Fat Junior’s Grill
Calvin Richard Lester Jr., a 25-year-old resident of Carthage, was identified by Chief Deputy William Sturkie of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office as the victim of a fatal shooting. Sturkie confirmed that Lester was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a single gunshot wound. Deputies are currently searching for a dark, potentially black, four-door Toyota Camry with front-end damage, as well as an unidentified Black male who was driving the vehicle.
Sturkie clarified that the incident did not involve employees or owners of Fat Junior’s Grill, located at 4900 Womack Road, which was not open at the time of the shooting. It is believed that the victim worked at a nearby manufacturing facility. Lee County Sheriff Brian Estes confirmed that Lester was indeed shot, but further details will be provided in a forthcoming press release.
According to WRAL, the unidentified body was discovered in the restaurant’s parking lot around 7:30 a.m., with a significant law enforcement presence still at the scene as of 9:30 a.m. Fat Junior’s Grill shared information about the incident on their Facebook page on Tuesday morning.
