Susano was a farmer, and had 14 children. Her oldest son was aged 99 in 2015. One of her daughters is still alive at the claimed age of 104.
Susano credits her longevity to her positive attitude, a healthy diet, and abstaining from alcohol. She also plays the harmonica.

In 2015, Susano was reported to be the oldest living person in Negros Occidental. In 2016, she was reported to be living in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, and sometimes went in Negros Occidental to visit her relatives.
