It was reported that, Fortenberry is a 61 years old congressman, who lied to agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation probing the 2016 donations.
The lawmaker is accused of lying to the FBI over a $30,000 illicit campaign donation. A federal prosecutor said that Jeff had put himself above his responsibility and the law.
The attorney alleged Fortenberry hoped that his status as a congressman would shelter him from inquiry and safeguard his spotless reputation.
