Don Shane is famous as sports director for WXYZ. He is longtime WXYZ sports director, and Reggie Hall, a sports producer, are among the 2022 finalists for the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame.

He is rumored to be ill, as his name goes to the Hall of Fame for Michigan Sports Media, as the finalist.
Along with Jack Ebling, Terry Foster, Mickey Redmond, and Tim Staudt; Shane and Hall are on the media ballot.

In 1989, Shane began his career at WXYZ in and before retiring in 2012 he went on to win a total of 19 Emmys.
