Is NSFAS Thief, Sibongile Mani Given Death Sentence? What Happened to her? How did She Get Caught?

After being found accountable of stealing R818 000 designated for disadvantaged pupils Sibongile Mani was sentenced to five years in jail.

Sibongile Mani is a finance and accounting scholar at Walter Sisulu University inside the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

For defrauding and stealing money from others, she was detained by the Hawks.
For theft of National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) money she is sentenced for five years imprisonment.

Is Sibongile Mani Getting Death Sentence?

A scholar, Sibongile Mani was found guilty of stealing R818 000 prepared for disadvantaged pupils and was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment.

Althu, she is requesting the courtroom to place her under correctional monitoring or vacate her sentence.

On June 1 2017 after R14 million was put in her account by mistake, Mani was found accountable of stealing R818 000.

She was solely entitled to R1 400 in meals allowance she was entitled to it but was accused for not revealing the R14 million which was mistakenly sent to her account.

She is going to seemingly be eligible for parole after ending one-third of her five-year sentence and should serve the remaining three years under correctional supervisions according to news24.

According to Olivier, the courtroom took Mani’s standing as a first-time offender into consideration, “The only acceptable penalty is straight incarceration, and you are consequently condemned to five years in jail.”

“You, and alone you, took that decision on 1 June 2017, and you did so repeatedly, for 73 straight days, multiple times every day.” as stated by Olivier to Mani.
