Tony Nader Death: Insight Optometry optician killed in fatal Halifax stabbing.

Tony is remembered as a passionate family man, funny, gentle, caring, generous, kind, smart, calm, respectful and talented.

According to Halifax Regional Police, officers responded to a weapons call at a business in the 1500 block of Brunswick Street at approximately 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021.

Preliminary investigation revealed a man entered the business and attacked a staff member. A patron of the business attempted to intervene and was also injured, police said. The suspect then fled the area on foot.

The staff member who was identified as 55-year-old Tony Nader, was stabbed and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died, while the patron was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was arrested in the area a short time later. He has been charged with First degree murder, Assault causing bodily harm, Assault with a weapon and Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

Investigators believe the incident was not random.
