It is with a very heavy heart that my brother, my sister and I share the news of the passing of our mother, Catherine Elizabeth Meyers. Our mother was a true inspiration to each of us. She was widowed at a very early age and left to raise three young children on her own.
She was both our mother and our father… and taught us about the importance of values, love and family. We learned so much from her through her persistence, her love for life and her overwhelming love for her family. Her seven grandchildren were the absolute joy of her life and she couldn’t get enough of them…They adored their Grandmother and spent so much time with her making memories that will live in their hearts forever. We started losing my mom several years ago to Alzheimer’s.
It is an absolutely awful disease that slowly took away her memories. As my sister and I sat on her bed yesterday and held her hands as she struggled to breathe, we promised her that our father, her mother and father, all of her brothers and sisters and so many other loved ones were here with her…waiting to take her home. It was so soon after that that we watched her take her last breath…and a peace seemed to come upon her. Our hearts are broken but we pray that our Dad and all of the others were there for her…in her transition to Heaven. May she watch over us forever!
