Cedric Roussel Obituary News: Former Premier League Strike Pass Away From Cardiac Arrest at Age 45
Cedric Roussel, a former Premier League striker, went away at the age of 45.
While playing in England, the former Belgian striker represented Coventry and Wolves. Sadly, he suffered a cardiac arrest and died on this past Saturday.
Initially playing for La Louvière in his native Belgium, Roussel then transferred to Gent and, in 1999, joined the Sky Blues on loan from Gent.
Despite rumored offers from Leeds and Tottenham, the forward signed with Coventry permanently a year later. He stayed with the team for another season before going to Wolves in the Midlands.
Our former striker Cedric Roussel passed away at the young age of 45, and we at Oventry City are extremely grieved by this news.
“From 1999 to 2001, Cedric played 43 games and netted 11 goals for the Sky Blues. We send our sympathies to his family and friends during this terrible time.
Roussel spent two years at Wolves, but after scoring eight goals in 53 games in England, he was loaned out to Belgian club Mons in his second season at the Molineux.
In 2003, the striker made a final departure from England by joining KRC Genk in his native Belgium.
After making three appearances for Belgium, Roussel transitioned into more of a journeyman player, playing for 11 additional clubs in a variety of nations before hanging up his boots.
The Twitter page for the Belgian national team also paid honor to the Late Roussel with the following message:
“We offer our condolences to Cedric Roussel’s family and friends.”
