George Washington University Law School Professor Dmitry Karshtedt has passed away, an online obituary announced on Monday.
His cause of death was not disclosed.
Dmitry was born in Moscow, Russia in 1977 and immigrated to the United States in 1990. After a yearlong stint at Benjamin Franklin Middle School, he entered 9th grade at Lowell High in San Francisco. Dmitry graduated from Lowell in 1995 and moved on to Harvard University, where he received his A.B. in chemistry in 1999.
After a few years working as a chemist for a semiconductor startup, he went to law school, receiving his JD from Stanford Law School in 2011. He worked for a short time at Wilson Sonsini in Palo Alto before clerking for Judge Kimberly Moore on the Federal Circuit.
He joined GW Law in 2015 after a fellowship at Stanford and received tenure in 2020.
Karshtedt legal scholarship has been published in the Iowa Law Review, Vanderbilt Law Review, and Harvard Journal of Law & Technology, among other outlets.
