It is with a heavy heart that we must say farewell to our chairperson and the backbone of our club.
Gerry Murphy played an integral part of Castleblayney Camogie Club and has been instrumental in the club’s growth and success for many years.
Gerry was widely known and respected in the Hurling and Camogie community for his dedication, passion, and commitment to the sport. He coached many teams throughout his career and inspired countless players to reach their full potential. His legacy in the world of hurling will never be forgotten.
In recent times, Gerry’s love for the sport and Castleblayney Camogie Club focused on the growth of Camogie from as young as U6 up. Gerry had an exceptional ability to connect with young children and instill within them a love for the sport of Camogie. He found great joy in watching his young players grow and develop as skilful players.
Outside of the world of hurling and Camogie, Gerry was a loving brother, uncle, granduncle, neighbour and friend to many. We will all miss Gerry greatly, but his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched and the many memories he created on and off the field.
Castleblayney Camogie Club wish to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to his sisters Mary Murphy and Bridie Mc Ginnity and the entire Murphy family and will endeavour to carry on his legacy.
