SOCIAL MEDIA TRIBUTE
It was with huge sadness that I learnt of the passing of Guy Bailey last night. I had just come out of the tube on my way to a gig when a msg flashed up from a dear friend telling me this awful news.
Like the recently passed Belle Star my friendship with Guy stretched back to the late 80’s.
It started off with me being a fan of The Quireboys and progressed into friendship in those far off days of The Marquee, St Moritz and The Astoria.
A lovely warm man, it was always a pleasure to see him and it is very diffcult to imagine that I won’t see him again or enjoy time in his company or have one of our chats.
The last time I saw and spoke with Guy was after the original line up of Quireboys got back together at the O2 Islington last December. I hadn’t seen him in a while and it was lovely to catch up with him again.
I can’t begin to think how Spike, Nigel, Chris, Rudy, Guy Griffin, Paul G, Keith & all the other Quireboys past and present will be feeling at Guys passing.
This photo was taken at the much missed 12 Bar Club in Jan 2015. Guy had been a guest on my radio show that afternoon & we’d had a great time chatting on air about & listening to some great music & afterwards we had made our way into the West End for a cracking night out.
My thoughts are with Bianca and Guy’s family and friends at this very difficult time.
I will miss you deeply Guy. I will see you again further down the line. God Bless ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
