Police said Wednesday that a 58-year-old man’s death, which was ruled a homicide, was discovered by his wife several hours after he was punched in the head by a relative during an altercation inside the victim’s Brooklyn residence.

Around 7:40 a.m. on Sunday, James Keitt’s wife found him dead on their living room couch in their Starrett City apartment on Elmira Loop near Pennsylvania Ave.

Keitt’s wife explained that the previous evening he got into an argument with a relative inside the apartment and was punched. This was when responding cops observed a noticeable welt around Keitt’s right eye.

After the argument, Keitt collapsed onto the couch and dozed off. When his wife awoke the following morning, he was not breathing.

After the punch, Keitt’s injuries were confirmed by an autopsy, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to police.

On Wednesday, police sought to speak with the relative Keitt had a fight with.
