The Montreat College community and athletic department is mourning the loss of head men’s lacrosse coach, Keith Lohmuller.
According to reports, Lohmuller was found unresponsive in his apartment on Friday.
The 48-year-old passing appears to be from natural causes, and no foul play is suspected, report says.
Selected as the fourth Montreat men’s lacrosse coach in program history in May of 2021, Lohmuller spent time with the Cavaliers for the past two years.
“Coach Lohmuller filled the Montreat men’s lacrosse roster with players who he’d coached for years on a high school travel team before joining the college’s coaching staff,” Montreat College Athletic Director Garrett Jones said in a statement. “This loss is felt deeply by his team and coaching staff, and we’re lifting them, Coach Lohmuller’s wife and children, and the entire lacrosse community that had the privilege of knowing him up in prayer as they process this difficult loss and grieve.”
