Kevin Walsh Obituary – Cause of Death: Longtime Mount Pearl-Paradise Skating Club Coach Kevin Walsh Passes Away.
The Newfoundland and Labrador skating family is mourning the loss of Kevin Walsh; Coach, Mentor and Friend of Skating.
An online obituary on Thursday, February 23, 2023 announced Kevin’s passing. However, his cause of death was not disclosed.
Kevin was a 50-year member of Skate Canada, and professional coach with the Mount Pearl-Paradise Skating Club for over 40 years. He inspired generations of skaters to experience the joy of skating.
As a new graduate of the Seneca College Coaching Class of 1981, Kevin was recruited by the then Mount Pearl Figure Skating Club to fill the position of Club Coach. He remained with the club for the entirety of his career, coaching all disciplines and programs. Over the years, Kevin also coached with the Conception Bay North and Prince of Wales Skating Clubs and served as Administrator and Coach with the Avalon Region Skating School and the Skate Newfoundland and Labrador Skating Academy. An avid supporter of the Jeux Du Canada Winter Games, Kevin served as Team Coach at the 1991,1995,2003 and 2007 Games.
Kevin’s love of skating was evident be it on the ice coaching, mentoring coaches throughout their careers or passionately sharing his insight at the section, club, and various committee levels.
