Police were called to reports two bodies had been found at the home in Kookaburra Circuit about 1.10pm.
Police say the 58-year-old was a licensed firearm holder and detectives have requested his licensing history from the NSW firearms registry.
Investigations are ongoing, but police do not believe anybody else was involved in the shooting.
Cribb said police do not believe anybody else was home at the time and are treating the incident as a suspected murder-suicide.
It is understood the pair were not previously known to police.
Police worked through the night and remain at the scene on Friday as investigations continue, Cribb said.
Cribb said police had no reason to suspect the 15-year-old may have been unsafe at the home, and said the victims’ family have been notified of the tragedy.
“We have been actively involved with the family right from the start,” he said on Friday.
“It’s an absolute tragic situation that my own police have had to deal with all night.
“The main thing is to wrap as much support around everyone as we can and, at the same time, there’s a very comprehensive investigation being undertaken by the detectives.”
