John Watson Death: Former NFL Offensive Lineman John Watson is Dead, Cause of Death
John Watson, Former NFL Offensive Lineman, has passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 2, 2022. He was 73-year-old. His death has been confirmed by ‘NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and CFL players that passed away’, through an online post. The circumstances surrounding his death has not been made public at the time of this publication.

“John Watson, a former NFL offensive lineman who played nine seasons in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints, passed away on July 2nd at the age of 73”, ‘NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and CFL players that passed away’ shared on their Facebook page.

“He played college football at the University of Oklahoma, and was drafted by the 49ers in the 7th round of the NFL Draft in 1971. The following is an excerpt from his online obituary: ” On Saturday, July 2, 2022, Johnny Ace Watson, passed away at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

“Johnny was born to Elsie Irene and Carl (“Bud”) Watson in Palo Alto, CA on January 11, 1949. Johnny was a standout three-sport athlete, playing football, baseball, and basketball at McClain High School in Tulsa, OK, where he was recently inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame. Johnny earned a football scholarship to the University of Oklahoma in 1969 where he played both defensive and offensive line.

“Johnny was drafted in 1971 by the San Francisco 49ers to play on the offensive line. His NFL career spanned 9 years, playing from 1971-77 with the 49ers and from 1977-80 with the New Orleans Saints. After retiring from the NFL, Johnny moved to Moore, Oklahoma to raise his family. He was humble about his playing career but loved sports and continued to go to OU football games with friends and family for as long as he could. Condolences to his family and friends and may he Rest in Peace.”

He will greatly be missed by many.
