Benjamin Polson Death: St. Louis Firefighter killed, Another Injured in North city Building Collapse
Benjamin Polson dies Unexpectedly in a fire in a vacant building just a few doors down, the vacant building which later collapsed and killed Benjamin. He died in the line of duty

The fire broke out before noon at a 2 1/2-story structure in north St. Louis. Firefighters went into the burning building. They were not sure if the house was vacant, because homeless people often stay in vacant houses to keep warm in the winter.

The fire on the first floor was extinguished. They went to the second floor, but the flames there were so intense they decided to leave, Jenkerson said. The roof and upper floor of the brick home collapsed not quite long, as the two firefighters were about to exit the second floor, it fell on them. They were trapped under a tremendous amount of debris.

When they dug them out, one fire fighter had died and the other was seriously injured.The firefighter who died was identified as Benjamin Polson, who had been with the department since November 2019, according to their officials.
