Charles Litel of Lake Charles Death: Victim identified in Calcasieu Parish Crash.
Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a two-vehicle, injury crash on I-10, west of LA Hwy 397 (Exit 36) in Calcasieu Parish at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
According to Louisiana State Police, preliminary investigation revealed a 2017 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 22-year-old Charles Litel of Lake Charles, was traveling west on I-10 in the center lane. At the same time, the driver of a 2015 Lexus IS250 Sedan was entering I-10 west from the LA 397 on ramp.
For unknown reasons, the Toyota drifted towards the right and struck the left front quarter panel of the Lexus. The impact caused the Toyota to rotate clockwise and exit the roadway to the right, police said. After leaving the roadway, the Toyota struck several trees before coming to rest. The driver of the Lexus was able to come to a controlled stop on the right side shoulder of the roadway.
Charles Litel died in the crash.
