Clarence Morgan Death – Cause of Death: Longtime Effingham County Director of Recreation, Clarence Morgan has passed away.

Effingham County announces the passing of its longtime Director of Recreation, Clarence E. Morgan on Wednesday, January 5th, 2022. “Clarence was a true professional who has inspired our county’s youth and their families for generations.”

Clarence joined the department in 1980 and was promoted to Director in 2001.

“We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Effingham Recreation Director, Clarence Morgan. Clarence was a husband, father, grandfather, and friend who was loved by so many. We offer our condolences to Clarence’s family, friends, and coworkers, and we ask that you keep those who were close to him in your thoughts and prayers at this time.” – Rincon Recreation Department.

With limited resources to start, Clarence grew the county recreation department to one of the most prominent programs in Georgia, culminating with the opening of the state-of-the-art county central recreation facility in 2017, which the Board of Commissioners named in his honor.

County Chairman Wesley Corbitt expressed, “Clarence has been the cornerstone of recreation activities in our county for over 30 years, providing recreational services and instilling the department with his invaluable strength of character and integrity. He is truly irreplaceable and will be greatly missed.”
