Houston Mayor, Sylvester Turner released the ages of seven out of at least eight victims killed in Travis Scott’s Astroworld music festival stampede on Friday.
The ages of the victims ranged from 14 through 27, while information about the eighth victim is unknown at the time.
The tragic incident happened at NRG Park, around 9 p.m. on Friday in a stampede when fans surged toward the stage during the Grammy-nominated singer and producer, Travis Scott’s Astroworld music festival in Houston.
14-year-old Spring Branch ISD student, John Hilgert was the youngest amongst the victims in the tragic incident.
“Our hearts go out to the student’s family and to his friends and our staff at Memorial. This is a terrible loss, and the entire MHS family is grieving today. Please keep the student’s family in your thoughts and prayers as they face this tragedy. Among the identified victims are; 27-year-old Danish Baig who was trampled while saving a relative.
“My brother was killed in this horrendous astroworld event that was managed poorly and supervised by such horrible people. People were trampled, walked, and stomped on. My brother tried to save my sister in law from these horrendous acts that were being done to her in the process he lost his life.” – Basil Mirza Baig
21-year-old University of Dayton, Ohio senior, Franco Patino, 16-year-old Brianna Rodriguez and 23-year-old Rodolfo ‘Rudy’ Peña.
According to City Police Chief, Troy Finner, the department has opened a criminal investigation by homicide and narcotics detectives.
