Eric Lokey Death – Cause of Death: Former Denton ISD football coach and assistant athletic director Eric Lokey has passed away.

Eric died on Monday, December 20, following a long battle with cancer. He was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma and has been giving a good fight against the illness for over 9 years. He was 56 years old.

Vince Lombardi once said; “We never lose, sometimes we just run out of time,” Jack Dinsmore wrote.

“Eric was surrounded by his family in a room full of love overlooking the lake he loved so much.”

“Fly high, brother! You were a magnificent man who touched many, many lives. Wish us high school teammates could huddle up one last time. Prayers of comfort to his family.”

The announcement of his death was flooded by heartfelt tributes and condolences. He will be sorely missed.

“We lost a great man, a great coach, a great husband, a great father, a great Lumberjack and a great fighter today,” Chuck Cox wrote. “RIP, Eric Lokey. Love you, brother.”

“Thoughts and prayers for the Lokey family,” John Panter wrote. “The world lost a great one today!! Rest easy Eric Lokey. You influenced many lives, including mine. From many years ago, his coaching staff.”
