Delaware first and only female governor, Ruth Ann Minner passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021. She was 86 years old.
Ruth Ann Minner was an American politician and businesswoman from Milford, in Kent County, Delaware. A member of the Democratic Party, she served as the 72nd Governor of Delaware from 2001 to 2009. She began her political career as a clerk in the Delaware House of Representatives and as a receptionist in the office of Governor Sherman W. Tribbitt.
She previously served as the 23rd Lieutenant Governor of Delaware from 1993 to 2001 and in the Delaware House of Representatives from 1975 to 1983 and then in the Delaware Senate from 1983 to 1993.
