It is of great sadness to announce the death of WBZ TV Video Editor, Jim Murphy who passed away on July 20, 2021. Jim was described by the WBZ TV team as the best and talented editor they would ever have.

Jim Murphy cause of death was not publicly announced at the time of writing this. Jim death was made known to us via tributes posted across social media.

Kate Merrill wrote on twitter, “Jim Murphy made our show better every single morning. He was a friend to me for more than 17 years here at WBZ and was the nicest guy in the room. We will miss you Murph.”

Jim Murphy was nearly 20 years a TV veteran, however, his age was not given. He his survived by his wife Stacy, son Gavin, and daughter Quinn, along with his many co-workers.

A GoFundMe has been established to help the Murphy family during difficult times.

Jim Murphy passed away suddenly and we want to come together as friends and community to show support for the Murphy family. To know Jim is to love Jim. He shared a love with his wife Stacy that is unparalleled. They could always be found together. They were a husband and wife that were more than just in love – they were best of friends and partners in every.single.way. He will be remembered for so very much but mostly for being the best Dad to Quinn (9) and Gavin (10). He was the type of father that other Dads looked to as an example of how a “DAD” should live his life. He wouldn’t miss a game, a day at the beach with the kids or spending time with Stacy, Gavin and Quinn in any capacity. He was the epitome of a family man.

Jim showed up for not only his own friends but anyone who could use a helping hand, a ride to a game or encouragement on the ball field. He was often the go to grill guy at the beach and everyone swooned over his famous brussels sprouts on the grill. He never missed a chance to edit someone’s sport reels to create a memory or snap the absolute best photo of the sunset at just the right moment.

If you knew Jim you would know how much he touched the lives of everyone around him. It’s now our turn to give back and help Stacy and her children as they deal with the loss of their beloved Dad and husband. We are raising money to assist the family as needed as they deal with this loss.

More information about Jim and arrangements for any services will be added to this post in the near future.
