Joe Pollack Death: DCSO Detective, Joe Pollack dies from COVID complications.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Detective, Joe Pollack died from complications due to COVID at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 9. It was determined that he contracted COVID-19 while on-duty and his death considered line-of-duty.
Detective Pollack retired as a Sergeant after 20 years service with New York Police Department. He spent 19 years with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, assigned to the Special Investigations Unit.
On Thursday, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office announced Detective Pollack’s death via official Facebook page; “We are saddened by the loss of DCSO Detective Joe Pollack, badge number 0214, who died early this morning from complications due to COVID,” the post read.
“Det. Pollack spent 20 years with NYPD, retiring as a sergeant. He spent 19 years with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, assigned to the Special Investigations Unit. We have determined that he contracted COVID-19 while on-duty and as such, is a line-of-duty death. He is survived by his wife and three children.”
“I met Detective Pollack nearly 17 years ago after he moved here from New York, where he retired after serving 20 years with the New York Police Department,” John Anderson wrote on Facebook. “Joe and I were good friends, even though our cultures were night and day apart.”
