John Kolonich Death: Franklin man found dead in crashed vehicle from murder-suicide

John Kolonich Death – Cause of Death: John Kolonich was found dead with self-inflicted gunshot wound after crashing his vehicle into the backyard of a Sandra Way residence.

According to Franklin Township Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence on Sandra Way, Franklinville, NJ, for the report of a male who committed suicide inside a vehicle in a residential backyard adjacent to Franklinville-Williamstown Road at approximately 10:30 a.m., Thursday November 11.

Upon arrival on the scene, officers discovered 46-year-old John Kolonich dead in the vehicle from an apparent gunshot wound. While securing the scene, officers received information that 42-year-old Melissa Kolonich who was the wife of John Kolonich, was dead inside their home on Florawood Court.

Melissa Kolonich was found dead from apparent stab wounds inside the residence, police said.

Investigation determined that Melissa Kolonich was murdered by John Kolonich, in the early morning hours of November 11, 2021 after which John left their residence in his vehicle before crashing into the backyard of a Sandra Way residence. After crashing his vehicle, he committed suicide while still inside the vehicle, using a rifle he had in his possession, police said.

According to the Gloucester County Medical Examiner, Melissa Kolonich died from multiple stab wounds, and the manner of death was homicide. John Kolonich died from a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death was suicide.
