On Saturday, March 4, a 59-year-old Blaine woman died in a snowmobile crash in Wahkon, Mille Lacs County.
According to reports, at about 2:09 pm on March 4, a report of a snowmobile crash in the city of Wahkon close to 200 Main Street was received by the Mille Lacs County PSAP.
At at 2:12 p.m., sheriff’s deputies went to the call and found an unconscious girl under a pickup truck in the 100 block of 2nd Street east. Despite efforts to save her life, the female was declared dead at the site.
Alcohol is not thought to have had a role in the collision.
According to the preliminary inquiry, the snowmobile apparently lost control and collided with an empty, parked vehicle. Lisa Michaels, a 59-year-old resident of Blaine, has been named as the snowmobile’s female driver. On the snowmobile, she was the only user and traveler.
