Shane Gilchrist and Saoirse Corrigan Car Accident: Castlepollard Hurling & Camogie Club Stalwarts identified among three killed in deadly car crash.
Saoirse Corrigan and Shane Gilchrist who are both in their 20s, were killed in a fatal two-vehicle collision in Kells, County Meath at approximately 4:45 p.m. on New year eve.
Saoirse and Shane were the only occupants of their vehicle, while the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash also died from injuries sustained in the crash. Three others who were passengers in the other vehicle are in the hospital with critical injuries.
“A terrible tragedy engulfed our community yesterday, Dec 31, as two of our young beautiful souls were tragically taken from us decades too soon,” Castlepollard Hurling Club wrote via Facebook.
“Castlepollard Hurling & Camogie Club would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Gilchrist, Murray, Corrigan and Coffey families. Shane and Saoirse were both stalwarts in the Castlepollard and Ringtown Hurling Clubs and extended communities. Our hearts are broken for your loss in this most difficult time. May their gentle souls rest in peace.”
