William Unsworth Death: British Army (26 Engineer Regiment) Acting Staff Sergeant, William Unsworth has passed unexpectedly.

On Friday, January 14, 2022, 26 Engineer Regiment announce that Acting Staff Sergeant William Unsworth died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday 26 December 2021.

“It is with deep sadness that 26 Engineer Regiment must announce that Acting Staff Sergeant William Unsworth died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday 26 December 2021,” a statement made by the British Army Regiment read.

Staff Sergeant Unsworth served for 16 years in the Corps of Royal Engineers. He trained initially as a Military Engineer (ME) Driver, serving in 35 and 32 Engineer Regiment and deploying on Operation TELIC and twice on Operation HERRICK.

Sgt. Unsworth retrained as an armoured engineer, deploying on Operation CABRIT 1 and earning a Brigade Commander’s Commendation for his armoured excellence after he was promoted to corporal.

He leaves behind his wife, Nadia; mother, Magdalen; brothers, Chris, Richard, and Andrew; sister, Samantha.
