Previously, he dated his partner David Coles, who was in a celibate relationship. Coles, the radio presenter, was the multi-instrumentalist who partnered with Jimmy Somerville in the 1980s.

David Oldham died in 2019, according to a tribute posted on twitter by Richard Coles. He wrote, “I’m very sorry to say that @RevDavidColes has died. He had been ill for a while. Thanks to the brilliant teams who looked after him at @KettGeneral. Funeral details to follow. “The Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended”.”

Rev Richard Coles lost his partner, David Oldham, whom he wed in 2010, to alcoholism in December 2019. The couple was married for a decade when his partner died at the end of 2019. The couple has a rich system of mutual mockery like other couples.

Rev used to tease David for lying in ignominy. As reported on News, Richard did nothing except let grief happen even three months after his partner died.

Coles, the writer, wrote a book about their time together and tried to help others. When David was in the Intensive care unit, he spilled David’s stomach over his trousers. 

Coles went to Tesco after David’s death and emerged with three kinds of Parmesan. He watched the garden that David had planted.

The 60 years-old Richard enrolled at the South Warwickshire College of Further Education and the independent Wellingborough School.

In 1980, he learned how to play the clarinet, keyboards, and saxophone. Later on, he appeared with Jimmy Somerville in Framed Youth: The Revenge of the Teenage Perverts, the Lesbian and Gay Youth Video Project film. 

Likewise, he provided narration for the Style Council’s film JerUSAlem in 1987. Additionally, he started a career as a writer and journalist.
