FBI hunt man fleeing Mexico after girlfriend’s body found in trunk

In this article, you will learn all you need to know about the FBI’s manhunt for a guy who fled Mexico after the corpse of his girlfriend was discovered in his trunk.

Authorities say a suspect whose girlfriend was discovered dead in her vehicle in Mexico has been the target of an FBI search after escaping detention and crossing back into the United States under an identity.

Tyler Adams, 50, was seized by police in Rosarito, Baja California, after a rotting corpse presumed to be that of his companion Racquel Sabean was discovered in the Tijuana region on May 31.

Authorities issued an amber notice for Valentina Sabean, his 7-month-old daughter with Ms Sabean, on June 8.

Valentina was subsequently found alive in Rosarito, Baja California, by Mexican authorities and put under protective services.

Mr Adams was apprehended and was apparently uncooperative with Mexican officials.

He was able to sneak back into the US using a phony ID in the name of Aaron Bain while being carried by Mexican police to US Customs and Border Patrol, according to the FBI.

“Clearly, something went wrong,” FBI spokesman Bill McNamara told NBC Los Angeles.

“The priority should now be to have him picked up and taken into prison.”

The FBI said that Ms Sabean and Mr Adams were both US citizens residing in Mexico.

According to the FBI and media sources, Mr Adams has an extensive history of fraud, stolen identities, and aliases in California and Hawaii.

In 2013, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser identified him as a “master of disguise” who scammed two Hawaii banks out of more than $120,000 between 2007 and 2008.

Mr Adams set up fictional firms and used false checks to establish bank accounts, then persuaded the institutions to allow him withdraw enormous sums of money. He was also found guilty of stealing a $5,000 diamond ring from Costco.

He was already serving a 14-year jail sentence in California for real estate fraud at the time of his conviction.

After being extradited to Hawaii to serve his 10-year sentence, he escaped without completing a work furlough program and is sought in Hawaii on a second degree escape charge dating back to September 2020.

Authorities suspect he is still in the San Diego area.

He is described as 5’9″ (1.75m) tall, weighing around 175 pounds (80kgs), and last seen wearing a yellow short-sleeve button-up shirt, tan slacks, and black running shoes.

According to the FBI’s San Diego office, Mr Adams also goes by the following aliases: Aaron Lee Bain, Aaron Lee, Aron Lee, Paul Wilson Phipps, Paul Wilson Phillps, David Smith, Dominic Braun, David Phillips, Kevin Schoolcraft, Kevin Kennedy, Michael Whittman, Lance Irwin, Brice Johnson, Matthew Kashani, Taylor Chase, and Joshua Smith.
