Abramovic revealed how her “mother gained total military superiority over Marina and her brother,” in a 1998 interview.

In a 2013 interview, Abramovi spoke candidly about her parents’ disastrous marriage. “It was the most awful event of my youth,” she recalled of an incident in which her father destroyed 12 champagne glasses and fled the house.

Furthermore, according to accounts, Abramovi was assaulted by a guy holding a photo of the performance artist. The artist was attacked in the head with the framed painting by her perpetrator.

Marina Abramovic carried out a horrifying experiment in 1974 with Rhythm 0, a six-hour performance piece. In the following experiment, she layout 72 things on a slatted table at a venue in her hometown of Belgrade, Serbia, and urged people to use them on her in any way they saw suitable.

A rose, a feather, perfume, honey, bread, grapes, wine, scissors, a scalpel, nails, a metal bar, and a revolver loaded with one round were among the things.

Furthermore, there were no distinct phases. Abramovic and the guests shared the same area, indicating that they were participants in the piece.

The goal of the play, she explained, was to see how far the crowd would go: “What is the public about, and what would they do in this situation?” The crowd was first fairly inert and did not do anything. The piece got violent as the awareness dawned that their acts had no bounds.

Her body was stripped, assaulted, and devalued at the conclusion of the act, transforming her into a “Madonna, mother, and whore,” as Abramovi phrased it.

Marina Abramovic is a Serbian conceptual and performance artist whose work focuses on body art, persistence art, feminist art, and the performer-audience interaction.

Similarly, she calls herself the “grandmother of performance art” because she has been working for over four decades. By including onlookers and emphasizing “tackling pain, blood, and physical boundaries of the body,” she initiated a new concept of identity.

Besides, Marina Abramovic Institute (MAI) is a non-profit foundation for performance art that she formed in 2007.

Currently, Marina’s abuse narrative, as well as her Rhythm 0 act tests, are being investigated further by Reddit and other internet media.
