Meet Jemma Melvin Southport; Jubliee Pudding Contest Winner

Jemma Melvin has won a global competition to make a dessert for The Queen. Melvin, a 31-year-old copywriter for Southport’s 4040 Media, learned to bake from her grandmother.

Similarly, the trifle has been selected as the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee’s official dessert and maybe served across the United Kingdom over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Furthermore, Jemma stated on air that her late grandma would be “very proud” if she defeated the opponents and the Queen ate her pudding.

On the final day of filming, the Duchess of Cornwall, patron of The Big Jubilee Lunch, was a special guest and debuted the wonderful recipe.

After winning the top prize in the Platinum Pudding competition, the winner was photographed celebrating in Fortnum and Mason. She only decided to enter it after a friend suggested it, Jemma Melvin described the experience as “surreal.”

Her trifle, created with lemon Swiss roll and amaretti, beat off 5,000 other sweets to become the Queen’s Jubilee’s official pudding. She didn’t believe she’d make it to the last 50, let alone the final five, yet her pudding has been picked.

The meal, which was inspired by her grandmother, is destined to join the ranks of coronation chicken and Victoria sponge as a British royal cuisine tradition. Ms. Melvin, a copywriter from Southport, Merseyside, was seen among a swarm of enthusiastic fans after winning the top prize at Fortnum & Mason.

“It was my buddy Sammy who really provided me the link to enter for the competition, and I simply figured I may as well go for it, get my name in the hat,” she remarked after winning.

The Platinum Pudding was invented by Jemma Melvin in 2022 as part of ‘The Platinum Pudding Competition’ to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

Individuals, families, school classes, community organizations, corporations, and other entities were all eligible to enter the tournament, as were British citizens aged 8 and above.  An experienced panel, comprising Dame Mary Berry, Monica Galetti, and Buckingham Palace Head Chef Mark Flanaghan LVO, assessed the recipes.

The show found its winner Jenna Melvin from Southport making her an instant internet sensation.
