Robbie Coltrane Obituary – Cause of Death: Harry Potter and Cracker actor Robbie Coltrane dies at 72.
Scottish actor, comedian and writer, Anthony Robert McMillan known professionally as Robbie Coltrane died at a hospital in Larbert, Scotland, on 14 October 2022, his agent announced.
Coltrane gained worldwide recognition as Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter film series (2001–2011), and as Valentin Dmitrovich Zukovsky in the James Bond films GoldenEye (1995) and The World Is Not Enough (1999). He was appointed an OBE in the 2006 New Year Honours by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to drama.
“We are hugely saddened to hear of the passing of the magnificent Robbie Coltrane who played Hagrid with such kindness, heart and humour in the Harry Potter films. He was a wonderful actor, a friend to all and he will be deeply missed,” the Harry Potter film series wrote via a statement shared on Facebook.
