Donald Finnell Accident – Obituary: Haughton man killed in fatal hit-and-run on U.S. Hwy 80.
An adult male who was killed in a hit-and-run incident that happened on U.S. Highway 80 Friday night is now identified as 81-year-old Haughton man, Donald Finnell.
According to State police, Finnell’s body was found just before noon Saturday in the median of Highway 80 in front of the Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home & Park.
Finnell, who was walking close to the highway at that time, was struck by a South Carolina man, 35-year-old Matthew Jones, the troopers learned throughout their investigation.
Jones allegedly left the scene of the collision and made an effort to hide his involvement.
Investigations are ongoing.
