Jensen Beach Car Accident: Four killed in horrific two-vehicle collision on U.S. 1 north of the Roosevelt Bridge.

Rescue personnel reported that the Florida Highway Patrol was looking into a quadruple fatality traffic collision that occurred on U.S. 1 north of the Roosevelt Bridge on Tuesday afternoon.

A 2017 red Chrysler minivan carrying two individuals and a 2022 black Tesla vehicle were both involved in the collision. According to John Budensiek, chief deputy for Martin County, both drivers and both passengers passed away.

An 18-year-old male was operating the Tesla, which was in the inside lane, as it approached the intersection of Baker Road and U.S. 1 in the south. He had a 19-year-old female passenger.

A 70-year-old man was operating the van, which was moving northbound on U.S. 1 in the left-turn lane and turning left at the next crossing onto 14th Street. He had a 73-year-old woman as his passenger.

The right front of the vehicle and the front of the Tesla clashed. The Tesla tipped over and started burning. On the grassy shoulder of the intersection, the van came to a final stop.

According to a preliminary inquiry, the Tesla was traveling downward at “an extraordinarily high rate of speed,” according to Budensiek.

The victims are yet to be identified.

Investigations are ongoing.
