Michael Trese Obituary – Cause of Death: Father of modern pediatric vitreoretinal surgery, Dr. Michael Trese passes away.
Dr. Trese founded the Pediatric Retinal Research Foundation.
“We greatly regret to inform you of the death on October 21 of our Foundation founder, friend and colleague, Michael T Trese, MD,” the foundation announced via a statement shared on social media.
His cause of death was not disclosed.
Dr. Trese will be remembered as one of the great paediatric vitreoretinal surgeons.
“An iconic figure of knowledge and teaching. He was a real life model of persistance and dedication. I would have never operated a child without his support and guidance and his team as well in ARC,” Muhammad Samir wrote in a tribute post shared via Facebook. “An example of teaching professor unbiased to all of his fellows all over the world. Hoped to spend more time with him. RIP professor Trese.”
He will be well-remembered as much for his warmth, wit and generosity of spirit as for his intellect and innovative spirit. He has touched every aspect of pediatric vitreoretinal disease.
