Issaquah High School: Issaquah Cross Country Team Placed “A Very Close” Second Place In The District Championships.

This past weekend, Issaquah Cross Country travelled north to Lakewood HS for the District Championships, where the girls team placed a very close second place with standout performances, the school announced.

Senior Kate Yahn placed 3rd with a PR of 18:02, junior Jane Harig was close behind in 6th, junior Clara Tubbs threw down a 25 second PR and was 12th, sophomore Riley Eberhardt closed hard and finished 19th, senior Julia Ryan, junior Giada Oliva and senior Anna Jensen ran tough for the team to round out our varsity squad. Senior Ben Konopka led the boys team with a very impressive 2nd place finish, followed by sophomore Connor Rickey in 4th, junior Brennen Rickey in 7th, sophomore Elliot McIntosh in 11th, sophomore Alex Yahn with a giant PR finishing 15th, senior Jonathan Liu at 22nd, and sophomore Henry Tait at 24th.

“With this performance, our boys brought home the first District championship for the program since 2015,” the school said in a statement. “All seven of our varsity boys earned individual trips to the podium, an amazing testament to the talent of the team. Both teams head to the WIAA state meet in Pasco this Saturday, November 5th. Both teams have worked extremely hard this season and look to bring home some hardware!”

Issaquah High School is a four-year public secondary school in Issaquah, Washington, a suburb east of Seattle. It is one of three high schools in the Issaquah School District and serves students in grades 9–12 from the central portion of the district.
